An age old question for every major release...
We're migrating to 9.1 from 8.2, but while we have data in differing spots, I have the need to take a couple of modules back to an 8.2 database
suggestions? anything new and whizzy? or is it back to excel or XML cludge?

I am afraid that nothing new and whizzy has appeared!
Presumably, you still have the original modules in your 8.2 database, so you don't need to send them back, just update them with changes that have been made in 9.1. This could be done via excel as you suggest and you still keep your history.
